Fire science asks a different question: why did this fire behave the way it did? MVFS covers fire dynamics, combustion behaviour, fire modelling, investigation methodology, forensic reconstruction and the technical standards that govern them, grounded in NBC 2016 Part 4, relevant IS Codes, TAC guidelines and NFPA references.
Over two years and 80 credits, including a dissertation and a supervised field internship, an MVFS graduate moves from following a procedure to explaining a phenomenon. That is the difference between a safety officer and a specialist.
Every MVFS module closes on a live technical case. A real occupancy, a real fire load, a real compliance question under NBC 2016 Part 4. Students run the analysis: fire load calculation, egress assessment, suppression adequacy, and a written technical finding they must defend.
By the end of two years, an MVFS graduate has written more technical fire findings than most working officers produce in a decade.
