How we collect, use, and protect personal information.

IFE Nagpur, Institute of Fire Engineering and Management ("IFEM", "we", "us"), operates the website ifem.in and the official IFEM presence on social platforms. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

IFE Nagpur is a fire safety and industrial safety education institute, formally registered in 2001 and based in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. We deliver vocational and degree level programmes in fire science, fire and life safety audit, and industrial safety management.

Information you give us directly. When you submit an admissions enquiry, request a curriculum, apply for a programme, or contact us, we collect the details you provide. This normally includes your name, email address, telephone number, the programme you are interested in, and any message you write.
Information collected automatically. When you visit ifem.in our hosting and analytics providers may record standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and the date and time of your visit. This is used to keep the site secure and to understand which pages are useful.
Information from social platforms. When you interact publicly with IFEM on a social platform, for example by commenting on or reacting to a post published by our LinkedIn Page, we may process that public interaction so that we can read and reply to it. This is described in the next section.
IFEM maintains an official LinkedIn Page and uses LinkedIn's official Marketing and Community Management APIs to manage it. We want to be specific about this because it involves other people's information.
What we access. Only content and engagement associated with the IFEM Page and with content we have published or commented on. Specifically: posts published by the IFEM Page, comments and reactions left on those posts, replies to comments IFEM has made, and aggregate Page analytics such as impressions and follower counts.
Why we access it. To publish IFEM's own educational content, to read and reply to comments and questions from members of the professional community, and to measure how our own content performs.
What we do not do. We do not scrape LinkedIn. We do not build or maintain a database of member profiles. We do not export, sell, license, or transfer LinkedIn member data to any third party. We do not use LinkedIn data for advertising targeting, for lead lists, for training machine learning models, or for any purpose unrelated to managing our own Page. We do not attempt to combine LinkedIn member data with data from other sources to build profiles of individuals.
Storage and retention. Engagement records are held only for as long as needed to respond to a conversation and to report on our own content performance, and are stored in access controlled systems. Where a platform requires deletion or expiry of cached data, we comply with that requirement.
Your control. If you have commented on IFEM content and want that interaction removed from our records, write to admissions@ifem.in and we will delete it. You can also delete your comment on the platform itself at any time, and you may adjust what you share with third party services in your own platform privacy settings.
We process personal information where you have given consent, for example by submitting an enquiry form, where it is necessary to provide a service you asked for, such as sending you a curriculum, and where we have a legitimate interest in operating and improving our educational services and our own social presence, balanced against your privacy rights.
We use the information we collect to respond to enquiries and provide programme information, process admissions and maintain student records, send information about programmes, schedules, and admissions deadlines where you have asked to hear from us, reply to comments and messages on our official social channels, improve our website, our content, and our course offerings, and meet legal, accreditation, and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell personal information.
We share information only with service providers who help us operate, such as website hosting, email delivery, and analytics providers, and only to the extent needed to perform that service; with accreditation and regulatory bodies where a programme requires it, for example MSBTE for diploma level programmes; and where required by law.
We use access controls, encrypted transport, and restricted credentials to protect personal information. Administrative access to our systems and social accounts is limited to authorised IFEM personnel. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your data.
You can ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, correct information that is wrong or incomplete, delete information we no longer need to keep, or stop sending you marketing communications.
To exercise any of these, write to admissions@ifem.in. We will respond within a reasonable period, and within any period required by applicable law.
Our programmes are intended for candidates who have completed secondary education. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the age required for programme eligibility.
ifem.in uses cookies that are necessary for the site to function, and may use analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
We may update this policy as our services change or as the law requires. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
